Zahn Type - Viscosity Cup 5, without Certificate

Description

Use the Zahn cup to accurately measure the viscosity or so-called flow rate of coating material. Dip Viscosity Cups (Zahn Type) may be used anywhere – in shops, factories and laboratories – for quickly checking and adjusting the viscosity of many different types of liquids.

Cup should be selected as recommended by your coating manufacturer.
Dip cup into coating, filling it to capacity – the coating should be free from bubbles and foam.

Filled cup should be removed quickly and use a sop watch.
When the stream of coating stops, note the seconds elapsed on your stop watch.
The seconds signify the viscosity in zahn seconds.- use the formula below to determine the Centistokes.

Properly clean cup after each use as residuals might lead to erroneous results.
Each cup has a 12-inch loop handle to allow the cup to be dipped by hand into a liquid container. At the center of this handle is a finger-ring for holding the cup in a vertical position during use.

Results should be reported in Zahn-Seconds at a specified temperature for a particular cup. To convert Zahn-Seconds to centistokes, refer to ASTM D 4212. (ASTM D 816, D 1084, D 4212).
